our staff heroes

Celebrating the wonderful team at Heatons, who regularly give up their own time to help raise money and awareness for local and national causes.

small things make
a big difference

Thank you to everyone who contributes their time, energy and efforts supporting the charities and good causes that we all care about. By helping as much as we can through a range of volunteering and fundraising activities, we hope to have a positive impact on our local community and make a difference in our own way.

WBC Children's Christmas Gift Appeal

When Rachael Harry, Assistant Production Manager in Workwear, heard about the appeal by Wirral Social Services to help provide underprivileged and vulnerable children with a gift this Christmas she was determined to help. She asked the staff at Heatons to get on board and was overwhelmed by the response, gathering over £1,000 worth of presents for a range of different age groups.

“We would like to thank you, your colleagues and everyone at Heatons for the kind and generous donations of gifts. We are extremely grateful for your support and your gifts will make a real difference to so many children this year.”

santa claus is coming to town

A huge well done to our very own Vicki O’Neill, account manager, for taking part in this year’s Liverpool Santa Dash, successfully completing the 5k course in under 40 minutes and raising a whopping £400 in aid of Alder Hey Children’s Charity.

It’s the biggest and longest established Santa Run in the UK and has even achieved Guiness World Record status for the biggest santa gathering.

“It was great fun taking part, along with my niece Antonia, this year there were more than 6,000 people all in santa suits.

We’re delighted to have raised so much money for Alder Hey, which is such a brilliant local hospital that does so much for children and helps so many families.”

supporting the scouts

Friends and family of the 2nd Bebington Scout Group braved the sweltering temperatures to take part in The Wirral Coastal Walk. Despite being one of the hottest days of the year, they successfully completed the 12.5 miles from New Brighton to Thurstaston, together raising over £350 for their local scout group.

This is just one of many activities raising funds to send 30 boys on an international scouting trip to the Czech Republic for the opportunity of a lifetime and experience some amazing activities with a Czech scout group.

Nickie Galvin, Customer Services Advisor, completed the walk with her son Connor, one of the scouts looking forward the trip.

“Meeting scouts in other countries and trying new experiences are some of the best things about being a scout, it’s a brilliant way for young people to make new friends and learn more about the world at the same time. Connor and his friends are so excited about visiting the Czech Republic and having lots more scouting adventures, thanks to everyone for all your support.”

supporting football from the grass roots

Paul Williams, our Purchasing Manager, has been volunteering at AC Hoylake JFC for over 20 years. He first became involved when his youngest son became a member and has since assumed the role of chairman, overseeing the full running of the club.

Athletic Club Hoylake (AC Hoylake) was established in 2001 to address the need for a local junior football club in Hoylake and West Kirby. With new teams introduced every season, it now has over 500 players in 41 teams, including a thriving girls’ section.

The club ethos is to ensure that ALL children have the opportunity to take part in and enjoy football from a young age. The coaches aim to help develop their technique and skills through a mix of training, mini-soccer and junior football matches in a safe, fun environment and the measure of their success is based on the numbers who return to play each week.

Walking With The Wounded
supporting those who served

Well done to Vicki O’Neill and Danny Burns from our sales team on completing their 20k challenge as part of team ‘Wirral Wanderers’, in aid of the veterans charity Walking With The Wounded (WWTW).

WWTW supports injured former ex-service men and women, helping them and their families transition back into civilian life. Working with the NHS it delivers employment, mental health and care programmes, saving jobs, homes, relationships and lives for the veterans who struggle after leaving the military.

“I am very proud we raised a total of £757 for this great cause.

Although the weather conditions were tough with wind, rain, sleet and ice, they were nothing compared to what our Armed Forces face on a daily basis and a big thanks to everyone for your kind donations.” - Vicki O'Neill

4 x 4 x 48 challenge

Luke Boyle, account manager from our Cumbrian office, successfully completed the David Goggins challenge to run four miles every four hours for 48 hours – a total of 48 miles. The challenge was started in 2020 by David Goggins, an American endurance athlete and motivational speaker and has since been adopted by thousands of followers on social media.

Luke together with his lifelong friend Cameron Prokas raised a remarkable £7,736 for The Great North Air Ambulance, in memory of Luke's cousin Jack, a young player at Penrith Football Club who died aged just 19 while driving near Penrith. He had been studying professional policing at the University of Cumbria and during the pandemic he volunteered at Cumbria police where he collected and delivered PPE equipment for frontline officers.

"It wasn’t just a normal run. To raise a lot of money for the air ambulance as well as trying to keep Jack’s memory alive: that was the overall aim. Whether people donated £5 or £100, every little bit is much appreciated. It really does mean a lot that people have gone out of their way to give something. It just shows you how much of an amazing lad Jack was.”
